Dan St. Jean brings more than 28 years of NOAA experience to our team. He spent the first 20 years of his NOAA career as a National Weather Service forecaster at 5 different Weather Forecast Offices across the West, Southeast and New England states. Dan's forecasting experience ranges from fire weather to hurricanes to winter storms and tornadoes. During the latter part of his NWS career, Dan was the science, training and operations officer in Charleston SC and Portland ME, where he not only implemented new training and technology, but also became a noted lecturer on satellite meteorology applications around New England.

After graduating from the NOAA Leadership Competencies Development Program, Dan brought his meteorology and leadership experience to the NESDIS team, finding his footing as a founding member of the Office of Systems Architecture and Advanced Planning (OSAAP), long before the rebrand to SAE. Dan began the work of bringing the vision of future architecture development and enterprise thinking to NESDIS as the office’s lead scientist. Dan now serves as the deputy director for SAE-- leading the day to day management of the office as well as oversight of budget planning and execution, hiring, contracts and administrative activities. Dan also facilitates the NESDIS Enterprise Risk Board and serves as Review Board chair for several NESDIS-wide engineering projects.
