  • Jessica Block is the Associate Director for Operational Programs of the WIFIRE Lab at the San Diego Supercomputer Center at the University of California, San Diego. Her work aims to mitigate disasters using emerging technologies including satellites, sensor networks, machine learning tools, and virtual reality. WIFIRE uses high-resolution data to help the program predict how a fire will spread in real-time. It also runs simulations for possible fire scenarios to prepare for fires before they occur.
  • Jessica and the Pathfinder Initiative team co-developed a scenario-based tabletop exercise, using synthetic data from Geostationary Extended Observations (GeoXO) ABI instrument, to contrast the differences between current and future geostationary capabilities.
